Our New Calling...

We got a call from our Stake Presidency on Tuesday night, wanting to meet with us. Well, we have been racking our brains about what calling it could possibly be for. We couldn't figure out what type of calling though, since all of the 'normal' callings have been recently filled. To no avail, we couldn't figure it out, until our meeting tonight...
Drummer Roll Please...

... We are Living History Representatives. I know, not your normal calling. We are representing our Stake for Public Relations. We are officially apart of the Mormon Battalion. Which means... that we will be able to dress up in time period clothing and travel around to different areas and states as if we are in the Mormon Battalion. Once we find out more what all this entails, we will be posting more.

We are very excited about this calling. At first, it was just for Nat, but when I said that I was jealous, they extended the calling to me as well. (He wanted to extend it to the both of us, but was told that I wouldn't be interested in it.) He was very happy to hear that I would love to be apart of this as well.

We are very much into Living History. This is why we are sooo EXCITED about this calling! We participate in ELP's (Enviromental 'History' Living Program) with our homeschool group. We went to Malakoff Diggin's last year and had a blast. We are preparing for this year's ELP which is the Russian Fur Traders. We love being able to re-enact history, and to dress the part. I know that when we 'go back in time', it really sinks in. As we participate, we are learning, what more could you ask for in a 'hands on learning' experience. The kids enjoy doing these as well.

For those of you who aren't familiar with our church, we hold callings, we don't get paid to do them, but it is our way of contributing to the church in our area.

That is such an awesome calling. I look forward to hearing more of what you get to do with it and where you'll get to go!
